WW I am feeling a little squeezed by your using my "Paper Painting" title to describe your artwork on ETSY which you used my technique to create and even used my subject matter of cupcakes! YIKES. I am all for trying new things and sharing ideas but I think you might want to try calling your work something else and maybe try some variation of my technique rather than pretty much copying it right down to the details. I am smiling when I say this, I know imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but I hope you might consider deviating a little? ;)
Elizabeth...you are correct. The term of paper painting can be changed. I guess I was unaware you held copyright on that term. Forgive me. As for the subject...well, a cupcake is a cupcake. Neither you or I are alone in cupcake art these days...they happen to be a theme that is quite in style "everywhere", so for that, I'm afraid I've been doing that theme for longer than I've been doing this collage. I'm quite sure if you google cupcake art you'll find plenty. I appreciate your comments and will refrain from using your term.
Just to set the record straight on the use of the term “paper painting”, I have spoken with the other artist about this via email and there is no problem. For those of you who know me, you are well aware that I’d never step on anyone’s toes. For others of you, please be assured that there was no intent to take anything from another artist. The term itself is actually not legally owned by anyone and the artist simply preferred that it be associated with her work only. Out of a courtesy and simple respect for a fellow artist, I have at this time decided not to use those words for my work as well. I just felt that it needed to be clear that there was absolutely no legal infringement here.
I am a full time artist who loves to experiment and enjoy teaching what I've learned as well. I also LOVE to travel. I think my dream job would be to travel to places near & far just to do art!!!
I live with my husband in a lovely home on a pond in New England
