I know that may sound like a funny name,
but the reason I call it that is due to the sort of "turban" effect they have.
I actually fashioned this piece after the way in which I make my "real" cupcakes.
When I bake real cupcakes I often will cut into the top at an angle making a circle
with a pointy bottom. I then fill the hole with frosting using a pastry bag….placing the cut out piece of cake back into the frosting, pointy side down. Then I add one more squeeze of the frosting on the very top of that. Hence….that Arabian turban look!
This piece is 8"x10" and is one of two I've been working on a little at a time over the last few weeks. With a tight schedule, I can't give them as much of my time as I'd like. The other I've got going is quite a bit larger than this one....and "no"...not a cupcake...lol
You'll just have to wait a bit longer to see that one!

and the other
Finally finished the second house for the Habitat fundraiser. I'd always wanted to try something using the "crackle" effect. The birdhouse seemed to be the perfect piece to try this on. I really liked the way it came out. I thought that it would be rough to the touch...but it is actually quite smooth. I hope they enjoy these and the fundraiser goes really well.
Now....off to get some other art done!!

Habitat House
Finally finished with the first of two birdhouses I have here to decorate for a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser that my real estate office is taking part in. I had originally said that I'd do one...but the minute they realized that I enjoy painting I was given the job of making two...one that will be considered the "office" donation. I've still got the other to finish...so I'm not sure yet which one will be the personal contribution and which will be the office.

A tiny cupcake
Who would have thought that a teeny tiny cupcake would take sooo long to do! This little "thrinchie" is a 3"x3" torn paper piece turned magnet.
Just really needed to do some art before work.
I've got two larger torn paper pieces in the works...but with less time available, it'll be a while before they are done. This little piece helped to fill a need to finish one....and I'm in a bit of a cupcake mood again...lol

Zettie
Ahh...yes. Managed to get another piece done.
This one is for a "zettie" themed postcard trade.
I went with a red and white stripe this time instead of the traditional black and white.
Sadly the scan doesn't really show the shimmer on the body from the twinkling H2O's I used.
Just feels good to be getting a few things done that aren't related to the real estate right now.

Pearl
Yay....only a tiny piece of art at the moment...but a piece nonetheless!! (hmm...is that one word?)
I rarely do atc's these days...so they are seeming to be much smaller than I remember them..lol
Anyway, figured I jump quickly into a swap that's set for tomorrow for "bird themed" atc's.
This one's name is Pearl.
She's done in acrylic and ink on patterned paper.
