Creative Collaboration

A lovely collaboration between an artist in New England in the US...and a guitarist from Tasmania in Australia.
A perfect example of the beauty of the internet and how it brings people together from all over the world.
I had spoken at an earlier time of how I was contacted via email by a gentleman in Tasmania who happened to see the image of my "Calypso" seahorse Torn Paper Paintings.
He explained that he was writing music and it was titled "Seahorse Bells", and wanted permission to use this image for the digital cover. You can sample this music HERE!
I was delighted to take part in this and so very pleased that this solo acoustic guitarist, Alan Gogoll, was kind and honest enough to ask for my permission.
We've been in contact ever since.
Recently Alan asked if he could use this image further....to use the colors from the seahorse as the background colors in his logo, which would then go onto T-shirts.  Great idea.
Well...just the other day I received a box in the mail from Australia!!
Inside this box was a fabulous black T-shirt with the colorful logo...as well as a great collection of his CD's and assorted cards and goodies!!!  What a fun bit of mail to receive.
I totally enjoyed pulling out each and every item. Since then I've had soo much delightful music playing...sampling all the CD's.
Alan....thank you for your generous gift, of goodies & friendship. I wish you soo much luck in the future with your music.

Collaboration

Gotta love when two totally different creative processes come together!

I've done many coastal images in my Torn Paper Paintings over the years. As time went on I developed a line of them into fabrics which are sold on Spoonflower.

My husband loves to work in wood. Over the years he has created, in his basement workshop, numerous beautiful small boats, kayaks, canoes, etc. His latest project....a paddleboard.
Well....this time our projects came together.

For the design part of his board...he decided that my "Calypso" seahorse fabric would be just the thing. We discussed this and I went to the site and custom adjusted the layout and size of the images on the fabric for him.
The fabric was perfect. Yes...it is now under glass cloth and epoxy and varnish. Shows through beautifully and has full protection!!
This was such fun. I hope we get to work together on something again.

NOW....if only we could get rid of this snow!!!

September already??

I can't believe it's Sept already. The winters seem to last forever....but not so for the summer!!!
I've been very busy and yes, have neglected my postings once again. Will try to do better this month...but must warn you....this is also the month that my beautiful daughter is getting married....so I may be a bit distracted...lol
To fill you in on what's been going on....lots of art. Yes...that's what keeps me busy in the art room and not so much online. Summer is certainly the busy season...and I'm happy for that!!

Newest pieces....I've done another Bass, different coloring than the first...and since two seagulls recently found new homes, I did another two..."Ben & Jerry"...lol

Right now I'm in the middle of a piece where I'm experimenting with backgrounds. This one is a seahorse. Usually I only do seahorses in the mini size..about 3" high. This one is 16" tall.
Will have to post a pic for you when it's done...but for right now...I'm pretty pleased with the way it's going.

The other update is that I finally got to deliver the four pieces that are becoming part of another corporate collection.
It is a brand new medical facility that is just doing the finishing touches on getting ready to open. I can't wait!!
Will tell you more about that too when the opening is official.

Soo...now that I've made a good start to a brand new month (and season) and have gotten you all up-to-date....fingers crossed that I come by here a bit more often.
At the very least...you can be guaranteed that there will be wedding pics showing up at the months end :)
