A Tiny Piece

With the holidays coming I wanted to play with the idea of some little torn paper pieces that could even be used as ornaments.
I found these tiny little canvases that are 2 3/4" square and started to experiment. I wanted something that would not simply be a christmas theme, but something that would also work year round.
Staying within my usual coastal theme, I decided to make the first one a seagull.

This was really fun and a bit of a challenge to work this small.
Hope to try a few other designs.

I like to fly

Finding art time these days is becoming harder and harder. I guess that this is why I enjoy trying to play in the monthly challenges at my favorite art site.
These challenges are for "one" item in a certain format and theme. Let's face it....during the course of a month I should be able to get one item done.....and I need to do art....so this gives me a good reason to escape to my art room!
This months challenge for a postcard was using at least three different medium and a theme of "I like to fly". Well....this little guy is what happened!
I used watercolor for the background, ink for the buildings and outlines, acrylic paint for the birdie, and circles of paper for the balloons!
I think he's pretty charming!

Pearl

Yay....only a tiny piece of art at the moment...but a piece nonetheless!! (hmm...is that one word?)
I rarely do atc's these days...so they are seeming to be much smaller than I remember them..lol
Anyway, figured I jump quickly into a swap that's set for tomorrow for "bird themed" atc's.
This one's name is Pearl.
She's done in acrylic and ink on patterned paper.

Peek-a-Boo Kitty

OK....so maybe I'm having tooo much fun with the shrink plastic....but you've got to admit....isn't this cute??
I've been doing one experiment after another and when these two came together, well, it was a purrrrfect match!

I'm not sure if little kitty is thinking "snack" or if he's just enjoying watching the birdie.

I decided that this one had to become a new addition in my Etsy shop. Of course I made one for ME too!!
Ahhhh.....what will be next??!!?
