Staying with the "coastal " theme....but taking a break from the beachscapes, I decided to play with toys! Beach toys. I just finished this 6"x6" canvas of a pail & shovel. I enjoyed this one so much that I'm thinking of making a series small beach toy pieces.
I did this one slightly different than I usually do. I created the background by putting down all the different images, text, music, etc...then going over the entire thing with a pale blue wash to unify it.
From there I continued the usual process of the torn paper paintings.

Yes Terri...I think we're all more than ready for summer!!! :)
Great idea to do a series Wanda, this one is just perfect and I love your new background technique. I often do something similar with gesso.
super cute. . =)
I've just been to your website and love all your new cupcakes. I will be teaching an art journal class this summer and thought I might use a collage cupcake lesson for the journal class. They are a delight to collage. I see you have some classes scheduled.. collage? I think any class would enjoy collaging cupcakes.
aw, someday it will be warm enough to play in the sand again (I hope!). these new pieces are wonderful!
