Wow...November

How does it happen soo quickly??
Seems the older I get the faster the year seems to go by. Here in New England our summer is something we wait patiently for, for what seems like forever. Once here, seems like it's the shortest season ever.
Thankfully, we've been given some mild weather so far, but soon to feel the chill. I understand that by the weekend....we're into high temps in the 40's....ouch. Guess it had to happen. By the time we hit Jan...40's will feel warm!
Well....I did just recently go off to The Little Beach Gallery and take new Torn Paper Paintings to jazz up the wall for the holiday season. Along with new paintings, I also brought along a new batch of ornaments.
Now....I feel ready for the next adventure.
It's only a four day trip....but looking forward to a fun time in New Orleans.
I have an art friend there who we plan to meet up with and see the town a bit through her eyes. She's also part of a co-op gallery there and I'm sure there's a bit of shopping gonna happen!!!
We've also booked a Sunday morning Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues. YES!!
No worries.....I'll be sure to take some pics and post them here.
I have no doubt there will be a bit of NOLA inspiration in my future work.
Stay tuned :)

Summer happens

Yep...it sure does.
As you can see, I haven't been here for a while. Sorry. I do try, really.
I'm sure most of you out there are actually very much like me and when the summer comes around and you're able to be out and about more often, some things take a back seat.
Here in New England, we try to enjoy every bit of summer weather we can before we fall back into those winter months.
Here we are, about to hit Sept 1st.  Where did the time go.
Well, here's a short run down on where mine went.
First of all, I have to have lots of Torn Paper Paintings ready for The Little Beach Gallery in Hyannis. Busy season there you know.
Secondly, this year was especially busy with being part of a fund raiser to create a yearly grant for women in need, in the name of my beautiful sister-in-law who passed away from cancer just over a year ago. The event was very time consuming, but raised a great deal of money to create this self sustaining grant.
Then of course there's all the regular stuff, gardening, beetlecat races, family gatherings...etc.
So, I do hope you'll continue to check in now, knowing that I'm aware I haven't spent much time with you....but that will change.
Why will it change you ask? Because I'm finishing up my new Torn Paper Paintings website as well, and attached to it, will be this blog. Yes. One stop shopping so to speak.
So, bear with me. We're almost there. I will announce it when it's "live".
And, since we're changing things up, I'll leave you with a pic of one of my latest pieces...Birds Eye 1.
Maybe there'll be some changing up of things in my artwork as well. Stay tuned.

Sept....umm...almost Oct

Wow....is it really the last day of Sept already???
Where in the world did it go? Geesh....getting at least one post in here this month just under the wire.

While I may have been absent from my blog....I was certainly busy working on more Torn Paper Paintings. During the month I created Coffee Time & Tea Time as well as Daisies. Two more new ones are in the works as we speak.

With the feel of autumn in the air now I'm sure the work will take on the new season soon.

The latest happening for this month has been the opportunity to see a friend that lives far from me and I haven't see in years. My lovely friend Terri and her husband Jim were vacationing in this area. I was lucky enough to be able to go off and meet them for the afternoon. Such a joy.
We started out our visit by meeting at The Little Beach gallery in Hyannis!!
How lovely to be able to have my art and my friend in the same place that has been so great for my creative journey all this time.
A memorable day and a great way to wrap up the month.
Looking forward to what wonderful things the new month will bring.

Got away again!!!

Time....yep. That's what keeps getting away from me.
Hard to believe that it's been a month since I last posted here....very sorry for that.
Guess it's hard to blame me though after the fierce winter we endured and now I've not only got lots of warmth and sunshine, but new gardens and beautiful deck as well.
Hey....a girls gotta get her vitamin D while she can....lol

I have been busy working as well though. Several more lovely Torn Paper Paintings done and I am also hanging in yet another new location....in Tiverton, RI. The Barksfield Shop. In this location I am a bit more free with displaying a wider range of subjects.
While The Little Beach Gallery is partial to coastal themes....and I can certainly understand that....I now have a new home for some of the subjects that I like to create in between the others.
There will also be new things coming up soon....new "products"....made from my Torn Paper Paintings.
I decided that, since everyone on the planet can create a shop of their very own products now that we live in the world of the internet....I may as well do the same!!
It is not open for business just yet....but soon. It's a long time consuming project since I really want to be picky and not just pop my images on everything and anything they fit on. No. I want to be very selective about what I put out there. I want only quality products and images that work well with them. I've even ordered quite a few of the items in advance so I can do a good quality check on them.

Here's a quick peek.

I'll continue to pursue this and hope to have everything up and available in plenty of time for holiday shopping....hint :)
Till then....hope everyone is joining me in that vitamin D!!!

Three weeks later.....

it's hard to believe that the snow is gone and the grass is green and I've been planting spring flowers for the past week!!!
We started the month of April with six or more inches of snow in the backyard...and we're ending the month with flowers and sunshine!!  After the winter we just had...I'd have never believed it.

Yes...this is the same yard....

I can also tell that spring has finally arrived by the fact that I've already made my first trip over to The Little Beach Gallery to drop off new Torn Paper Paintings work for the start of the season...and discovered that one of the larger "whale tail" paintings sold.

Hopefully the season is off to a great start and will continue to only get better.
I'm also enjoying my first spring with the new backyard...that is now "minus" the giant swimming pool. Yay!!!
I'm loving the new landscape and have already spent many hours gardening so that over the next few years it will all fill in and mature and look as if it's always been there.
Everything takes time.....it took forever (it seemed) to be rid of the snow. I think I can manage to relax and wait for the plants to grow.

A new year - another fresh start

Yes...don't we all think of the start of a new year as being a whole new fresh start again?
I know I do, soooo....cheers...lets look forward to a bright shiny new one!!!
One of my goals this year is to hopefully teach more Torn Paper Paintings workshops this year. I ran a couple last year in some new areas and they were a great success with the organizers wanting to do it again this year!!!
I'd love to find some available venues to hold these workshops in other parts of the country (and beyond) as well. I just love to travel...so adding art to that would be the very best mix.
Anyone who is out there and knows of a venue in their area where they'd like to see a workshop...pass my info along and let me know!!  Maybe we can make that happen.

Right now I'm busy running some new design ideas around in my head. The long very cold New England winter can be the perfect time for that. It helps to keep warm thoughts when planning more "coastal" images!!
One of the subjects that has done well are my mermaids. While working on my latest....Lilith during Dec...my Siren Sister sold at The Little Beach Gallery.
I see many more of them in my future!!
The second biggest seller it seems......seagulls!! Who would have thought...lol  I have a new one in the works right at the moment. The gallery is already in need once again.

Soo...as I sit by the fire with a sketch pad and thoughts of summer....I wish you all a shiny new start to a wonderful new year ahead!!
